Gulf charters like to schedule sailing courses well in advance so that students can make all the necessary travel plans to attend the course of their choice. Whilst understanding the need for early certainty of a course taking place for the benefit if planning, it is also true that a course with a very few students attending is uneconomic for the company and less beneficial to the participants since it is the very interaction of the students that enhances the learning process.
In order to achieve the best product for the student we schedule courses throughout the year on a regular basis and welcome students to book places as early as possible. Once the student is registered on a course the deposit is paid and the course materials sent to the student for pre school study. When sufficient students have enrolled on a course date to guarantee its success the student is notified and the course confirmed.
Students are recommended not to finalize their travel plans until that course confirmation is received since if insufficient students enrole on a particular course then the company will regrettable have to cancel that course and hopefully find an alternative date for the displaced students.
Gulf Charters schedules a crew course every month starting on the second Saturday of the month. The course lasts 5 days and finishes shortly after lunch time on the following.
Gulf Charters schedules a Watchkeeper course every month starting on the third Wednesday and finishing on the following Sunday of the month. The course lasts 5 days and finishes shortly after lunch time on the Sunday. This programme enables a Student combining Crew and Watchkeeper courses to complete programme in 9 days.
Gulf Charters schedules a Skipper course every 2-3 months starting on the third Wednesday and finishing on the following Sunday of the month. The course lasts 5 days and finishes shortly after lunch time on the Sunday. Many students like to combine the Crew and Watchkeeper courses and then undertake one or more mile builder cruise to gain experience at sea before undertaking the skipper course.
