Gulf Charters Sailing School Cambodia Voyage-2009

Sept.26-Oct.3,2009

It is that time of year again and we at Gulf Charters are anxiously waiting to cast off for one of our favorite events of the year- the sail into Cambodia waters. This 600+ NM cruise is packed full of all the things that make live aboard sailing so enjoyable. Open water sea miles and coastal cruising, remote and little visited island destinations, the chance to visit isolated villages, pristine, uninhabited beaches, clear water swimming and snorkeling and a party town landfall in Sihanookville.

We are looking for a few join in crew members who can participate in handling the boat and become involved with the day to day operations of the boat. This is a great chance to get a feel for long range cruising and life at sea.

Gulf Charters has a history of “pioneering sailing” here in the Gulf of Thailand and this adventure definitely falls into that category.

If you can only go to sea for 1 week of the year, this should be the one. A real voyage of discovery, be one of the first sailors in modern times to take a yacht into this fascinating part of the world.

We hope you will be able to join us. Please contact Capt. Tim to join up or if you have any additional questions. Tim@gulfchartersthailand.com

What do I bring?

Passport and Visa: You will need a valid passport and tourist visa to enter Cambodia. We will be able to arrange the visa (extra charge) if we have access to your passport on the 23rd of September. Otherwise you will need to make visa arrangements on your own. Gulf Charters will need to have all crew passports with visa in hand by 11:00, September 26th in order to complete check out formalities. Please contact for additional information.

Money: In Cambodia, most people use US Dollars. Thai baht is also accepted, but the exchange rate is a bit unfair. Your ATM/credit card should work fine in both Thailand and Cambodia. Please note that the join in cost will cover all your expenses and the only need for additional money will be if you would like to purchase items on shore in the few locations where that will be possible.

Clothing: The attire on the boat is very casual – swimsuits and bare feet by day, shorts and shirt, or sarongs, and sandals in the evening. A windbreaker or similar for standing the night watches. You might want to bring hiking sandals or shoes for exploring the trails or shopping. No dark soled shoes allowed on deck.

Other gear: Swim suits, dive skin, fins, mask, snorkel, fishing gear, sailing gloves, sailing rain gear, and any other toys you want to bring along, but it is recommended to keep it simple.

Personal items: Sunscreen, sun glasses, hat, light sweater or wind breaker (it can get nippy after a rain shower), camera, film, extra memory cards, batteries, dry bag & mosquito repellant (if you go ashore). Personal hygiene items: toothbrush & paste, shampoo & crème rinse, soap & deodorant, prescription medication, spare prescription eyewear etc.
